| Azores | The outline of the garden-like islands on the horizons of the sea. Peace and quiet. Flowers in the fields, in the villages, in the houses. The blue and green of dreamy lagoons. A pace of life in which there is time to stop and appreciate living. Art treasures that recall pages of a centuries-long history. Nature in all its original splendour. A meeting with the past involved in everyday life. Invitations to discover and experience a different world, repeated on each of the nine islands of the Azores. (Pierre de Sousa Lima) | North Atlantic Ocean |

| The Azores Islands Web Page | Quite an impressive collection of information on these islands, maintained by Pierre de Sousa Lima; contains details about art, climate, plant and animal life, popular festivities, food, transportation, history, etc.; so far, the definite on-line guide to the Azores. |

| Bermuda | Bermuda is a group of islands of only 21 square miles and 60,000 people. It lies in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean approximately 700 miles east of South Carolina. Still a British colony (as affirmed by a 1995 referendum), Bermuda is densely populated while still maintaining a rural character with lush subtropical vegetation. The frienliness of Bermudians is often ranked by tourists as one of the most important attractions of the island. (Kevin Mayall) | North Atlantic Ocean |

| Block Island | The most obvious attraction of the little island, of course, is its sheer beauty, the stone walls and rambling roses, the vistas of the land and sea, the sweep of Crescent Beach, the pocket beaches caught between pounding surf and steep bluff - all are unforgettable. | Madeira | Madeira was Christopher Columbus's favourite port of call on his voyages to the New World. And now among all the tourist destinations in the world, Madeira is my favourite place to visit. It is also the island where spring spends it's vacation during the (cold) winter period. It is a paradise full of flowers and fruits. An island in the Atlantic Ocean with imposing mountains and magnificent valleys. (Laninka) | North Atlantic Ocean |
