| The child from Curaçao |
|---|
Once upon a time ... a long time ago ... in the year 1961 ... the stork brought a child to this world. He deliverred him at a little house on the tropical Island Curaçao. There the child met his new mother, whom was from another island called Madeira, and his father, who was from Curaçao. Both were very happy to have him in their midst.
The child opened his eyes ... looked around ... smiled ... and went to sleep again.
Many years passed by and, on a sunny day in the year 1977, he woke up finally. He looked at the mirror and saw that he had grown. Actually, he had outgrown both his mother and father. He decided it was time to do some education for the change. So, he kissed his parents and went to the airport. There he took the first plane he saw, flew to Europe and landed in Holland (The Netherlands) between the windmills and tulips.
He opened his eyes ... looked around ... smiled ... and went to school.
Many lessons and homework passed by and, on a summer day in the year 1980, he finished reading all the books he had. He got a couple of certificates and diplomas in the meantime and decided it was time to get married. So, he kissed the teacher (but didn't asked her) and went (again) to the airport. He took again the first plane he saw and flew to the island of Madeira. There he met a young fair lady called Terry.
He opened his eyes ... looked at her ... smiled ... fell in love ... and asked her to marry him.
Nine months later, on a warm day in the year 1981, another child was then born. This time it was a beautiful girl. Her name was Linda (= beauty in Spanish).
She opened her eyes ... looked at her proud parents ... smiled ... and went to sleep.
Many diapers and milk-bottles later, on a cold day in the year 1981, the child of this story decided it was time to find a job. So, he kissed his beloved wife and daughter and went into the city of Amsterdam. He entered the first building (a bank) he saw and got a job as administration co-worker for the foreign exchange department.
He opened his eyes ... looked at the pile of sheets ... smiled ... and went to work.
Many overtime and lunch-hours later, on a hard working day in the year 1983, he finally balanced the ledger. He looked at his terminal and decided it was time to find out how does that thing work. So, he kissed his boss, went to the computer department and asked the first person he saw. He got an offer to work there, instead. He went to a crash-course for Cobol 74 programming. After that he started to make programs.
He opened his eyes ... looked around ... smiled ... and began to debug.
Many bugs and elapse-time later, on a hot day in the year 1985, the second child was born. It was a handsome boy with a very big smile on his face. His name was Michael.
He opened his eyes ... looked at his new family ... laughed ... and went to sleep.
Many years passed by and, on a beautiful day like today, we take a moment to see what has become of the child from Curaçao.
He now has a loving wife, Terry, with 2 children (Linda is now 14 years old and Michael is 10 years old) and 2 cats (Jovi and Boyz). He lives in Holland, to be specific: Alkmaar. He is a system-designer/system-administrator and LINCII-specialist for the Generale Bank. (LINCII stands for Logic and Information Network Compiler version II and is an Unisys 4GL-produkt).
He is by nature a calm and quit person. Likes to work. Loves his family above all. His hobbies are:
And now he thinks: "It is time for me to make a journey around the world!". So, he kisses the cats, grabs the first mouse he sees and clicks on a link.
He opens his eyes ... looks around ... smiles ... and goes on surfing.
