| The Island Hopper and Me |
|---|
The Island Hopper was (and still is) pure a hobby thing. It was an exercise to learn more about the WWW and the Net.
The Island Hopper was created during the little hours after midnight on a Pentium 60 with 8 Mb Ram, 14K4-modem, a (simple) text-editor, Netscape version 2.0, Windows 95, The Times Atlas of the World and a cup of coffee.
That was last year .... now-a-days the Island Hopper is being manufactured as follows .... on a Pentium 60 with 8 Mb Ram, 14K4-Modem, a (simple) text-editor, Netscape version 2.0, Windows 95, The Times Atlas of the World and a fresh cup of coffee.
(March 11, 1996 - The only thing that is different is that the left button of my mouse is now broken.)
With the Island Hopper I try to kiss as much as possible .... KISS (Keeping It Sweet and Simple).
The funny part of this all is ... that I am not really an island- nor a world-traveller. The only islands I know are those where my roots began: Curaçao and Madeira.
But still ... each day (sorry, I mean night!) I spend on the making of the Island Hopper, each time I discover a new island on the Net, and each time I am dreaming and wishing on making a real trip to all those little spots on the globe.
I enjoy making it and I hope that my work contributes one way or another in the immense world of WWW.
